Top 10 Reasons to “Cool the Globe”

Ok, I was talking with some friends today and then the question popped up: “Why should we be more eco-friendly to this planet? We might not live to see the worst, just the beginning of it!”
So actually thought about this myself and came to these conclusions:

1. Better for the Future! Well if we (people today) don’t live to see the worst of the effects of global warming, we will more than likely have exhausted some convenient resources like oil, natural gas, and other fossil fuels. This will leave our children and grand children to clean up after us and find a totally new way to live! Wow, that’s the most selfish thing I have ever heard of: Leaving others to suffer and die from our own actions that could have been used to do the opposite (make the future better)

2. Love That Feel Good Feeling Everyone knows that feeling when you have done something so truly good that you know it will better your life and/or someone else’s. Stopping (or more like slowing) global warming will give you a sense of pride knowing that you have probably made the Earth just a little better. And because I am a big karma freak, I highly recommend doing this. It doesn’t have to be something big, in fact I think smaller things are better, like recycling and planting some trees.

3. Generate some Ca$h We all love getting money, no one can deny that. Well wouldn’t it be great to get some money and get that feel good feeling (shown directly above) at the same time? Well Recycling can do just that! It’s easy and profitable, all you got to do is collect some empty soda cans, plastic bags, or any other material(s) and find out where you can recycle them! Turn those in and you will get some money! Simple right? I have proof it works: Last year my school (ASB to be specific) made $800 dollars from holding a school wide recycling contest!!!

4. Wake Up and Smell the Flowers! Planting flowers can make your house, window, or dining room table look very pretty! Best of all they are good for your backyard environment. Remember when all those bees started dying off? Well with that happening those bees couldn’t pollinate all the plants, fruits, and other trees! Not good. So keep those backyard species going and your communities environment thriving (even though you might not notice it; it’s there!).

5. Cleaner Free(er) energy Well I know that no one likes to pay bills. Gas, electric, propane. Yuck! Well you don’t necessarily haveto pay them, you can get solar panels!! The energy from the sun can power your home and you can use your gas, electric, and any other fuel sources a fraction as much as you would have been! The savings can really add up, but the only thing stopping people is the investment. I talked with my father about it and he predicted about a 20,000 dollar investment would needed to be made. But this clean fuel source would pay for itself in a few years.

Ok, that’s some positive stuff. Now we go and discuss the negativity’s (that’s a word right?) of this.

6. Uh… Where Else Can We Go? Consider this: Earth become uninhabitable (Like in the movie “Wall-E”), what other planet would we go to? There is no other planet (that we currently know of) similar to Earth. Even if such a place was discovered you, me, and about 99.8 (my estimate) percent of the human species would be able to escape in time.

7. Rain, Rain, Won’t Go Away. Storms and floods have become more common. Our melting ice caps (I think) are a contributor to this. Like I have mentioned in the “What is Global Warming?” page, category 4 and 5 hurricanes will be common storm systems and coastal cities are going to be totally destroyed. So then we’re all crammed together in the middle of the country with less space, and lower chances of survival.

8. Your Killing Fluffy, Cute, Little Animals.Yes you read that correctly, you sitting there reading this have probably killed (again my estimate) at least 3 cute little animals that have done us no wrong. By not recycling as often as we all should, our trash has filled their environment(s). Our trash chokes poisons and drives animals into each other; killing for the territory.

9. Beauty Be Gone! Yeah, weird title but it’s true. With our landfills piling up around the nation, the beautiful forests, grasslands, rivers and lakes will be littered with trash taking the beauty away from all your family outings and trips, pictures might not seem as perfect, sights and sounds can include tractors and dump trucks instead of small streams and flutter of birds.

10. No time We have absolutely no time at all left to think about weather or not we take action against this (global warming) or not. We act now or some of the things listed above can will and already are happening. This issue needs to be addressed immediately.

So with all that said I would like to announce that this “Top 10” list may become an annual thing. Maybe once a month I will post one of these, and I could use some great subjects to create these lists on. To give an idea, contact me using the information on the “Contact” page.
Back on topic; I hope this list opens your eyes to what will, can, and already has been done. Hopefully this Top 10 list will show you why we need to take action and when it needs to happen (which is now). Remember to comment and click around!

Thanks for reading, we really appreciate it!
